The King’s birthday honors list features Merseyside names including Chris Boardman

People from Merseyside have been recognized with the King’s Birthday Honours.

The birthday honors list celebrates the achievements and service of people in Britain from all walks of life.




This year a number of local people received various honours, including singer-songwriter Rebecca Ferguson and Michelle Charters, head of the International Slavery Museum. Olympic gold medalist Chris Boardman, from Hoylake, received a CBE after being made an MBE in 1992. Former Liverpool player and manager Graeme Souness is appointed a CBE for services to football and charity.
