Former Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati awarded MBE in King’s Birthday Honors

TV star Shobna Gulati has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honors list.

Actress and presenter Gulati, 57, has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the cultural industries.




Born in Oldham, Lancashire in 1966, Gulati is best known for her roles as Sunita in the ITV series Coronation Street and Anita in the BBC comedy series Dinnerladies.

His theater credits include the international tour of Mamma Mia! in 2015, the UK touring production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in 2018 and Richard II at The Globe in 2019.

She has also appeared on the ITV current affairs program Loose Women as a panellist.

Singer Rebecca Ferguson was also awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours. The Liverpool-born artist, who was runner-up on ITV’s X Factor in 2010, is being honored for services to the music industry.
