Connor Roberts and Glen Kamara react as ‘excellent’ Leeds United player shows work at start of off-season

One of Leeds United’s most exciting players for next season has taken to Instagram to show off some of his work since the start of the off-season.

Leeds are now three weeks on from their play-off final defeat against Southampton, so now is the time for those not away on international duty to relax and reset.

That said, it’s already ticking towards the start of pre-season and so players will be keen to ensure they stay in top form so they can hit the ground running.

Despite wins over Nottingham Forest and Hearts, Daniel Farke will be keen for a much better pre-season this time around, where he has only been able to work with a few new signings.

The side that ended the transfer window was completely different to the one Farke first inherited, but hopefully Leeds can be much quicker this time around.

Mateo Joseph shows early offseason work

Leeds already have the foundations of a strong squad for next season, despite expecting to lose a number of key players this summer.

There are also a handful of youngsters who will be hoping for a real first-team opportunity and there’s no better time than pre-season to show what you can do.

Archie Gray is clear evidence of that, this time 12 months ago after impressing Farke enough in pre-season to get the opening day start and then never looking back.

And it would appear Mateo Joseph is looking to build some early momentum ahead of his return to Leeds after posting a selection of photos on Instagram of him already hard at work.

Joseph featured heavily in the first team last season, but apart from a few FA Cup starts, Farke opted to only use him from the bench in the league.

He showed more than enough in those various cameos to prove he is good enough to play more, as he scored two impressive goals in an “excellent” individual display at Chelsea.

Connor Roberts and Glen Kamara are among Leeds team-mates who have reacted to Joseph by showing he is working hard, even if the former’s future is still uncertain.

Joseph could actually miss the start of Leeds’ season

Unfortunately for Leeds, there is a good chance Joseph will miss part of pre-season and the start of the campaign.

According to Mail Online, Joseph has been cleared to play at this summer’s Olympics for Spain after recently switching allegiance to England.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on July 4 and end on August 9, which is the day the championship season begins.

Should Spain progress deep into the competition, which would not be a surprise, Leeds could be without him for at least the first game.
