Kate Middleton had good reason to wear a brooch to Trooping the Color

The sweet meaning behind Kate Middleton’s Trooping the Color brooch has been revealed. The Princess of Wales, who is battling cancer, appeared at the Royal Family event on Saturday, June 15, with her children.

The mother-of-three, who announced her cancer diagnosis in March, wore a Jenny Packham dress, paired with a Philip Treacy hat. The dress featured an Irish Guards regimental brooch as Kate is a colonel in the Irish Guards.

Discussing her return to GB News, commentator and historian Rafe Heydel-Mankoo said King Charles was “delighted” that the Princess of Wales could attend the event as she is “the strength, stay and future of the monarchy”.

Heydel-Mankoo said: “The King is delighted that the Princess of Wales is there. He knows that she is the strength and the stay and the future of the monarchy and she has done so much to rise above all that has happened and provide that symbol of constancy and stability.”

Heydel-Mankoo told GB News: “Kate is a lot like her mother-in-law and, indeed, so is the Queen Mother. The power behind the throne, as King George VI knew it, was the Queen Mother. And I think to a large extent, Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales will prove to be that vital force for Prince William in the years to come and when he eventually becomes King.”

Kate said on Friday: “I’m looking forward to attending the King’s birthday parade this weekend with my family and hopefully joining some public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I’m not out of the woods yet.

“My treatment is ongoing and will take a few more months. On days when I feel well enough, it’s a joy to engage in school life, spend personal time with things that give me energy and positivity, and start doing a little work from home.
