Coventry City complete their first transfer for the midfielder as the midfielder moves for an ‘undisclosed’ fee.

Coventry City have completed the transfer of midfielder Marco Rus to Scottish Championship club Ayr United.

The Sky Blues development player, 21, moves north of the border for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

Rus joined City from Southampton in July 2021 and was part of the Under 21 side that won the Professional Development League title in May 2022, scoring in the final win against Bristol City.

In 2022/23, Marco was an influential member of the Sky Blues Under-21 squad that reached the Birmingham Senior Cup final, wearing the captain’s armband on several occasions.

He had loan spells at Chorley FC and also at his hometown side FC Universitatea Cluj in Romania in the second half of last season, as well as playing on the bench for Sky Blues first team matches in recent campaigns.

The club said: “Everyone at Coventry City would like to wish Marco the best of luck for the future.”
