Man in critical condition after serious road collision

A man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Wigan on Friday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is appealing for information following a road traffic collision with serious injuries.

At 5.09pm on Friday 14 June, police were called to reports of a serious road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

According to police, a silver Skoda Karoq traveling east along Wigan Road from the Bryn Road junction crossed the center line into the westbound carriageway before colliding with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old man from Wigan, was struck as he stood on a footpath outside a business.

Emergency services transported him to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in critical condition.

No other cars were involved and no other injuries were reported.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have footage, including CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
