Leicester City manager Graham Potter has been warned

Former Aston Villa and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has explained the questions Leicester City’s board will need to consider when assessing whether Graham Potter or Steve Cooper would be the best fit for the King’s vacancy Power Stadium.

Potters is the bookmakers’ favorite to replace Enzo Maresca and become Leicester’s manager back in the Premier League, with Carlos Corberan remaining second favorite and Cooper, the former Nottingham Forest boss, third.

But whoever takes the job will also have to guide the club through whatever happens off the pitch. There is a fear of a possible deduction of points and a limit on transfer activity due to the violation of Financial Fair Play.

Wyness, who now runs a football consultancy business, suggests that part of the charge should weigh heavily on Leicester’s mind as they make this appointment – and would advise them to lean towards Cooper.

“I can see that Graham Potter has a strong connection, but I don’t know if that would be the right appointment,” he told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast. “Nothing to do with his ability, but he will face some real issues with points. deductions and noise around the club – I don’t think it suits his management style.

“I see Steve Cooper as more of a scrapper and a fighter, he had a number of similar problems during his time at Nottingham Forest. That’s an understatement. He is better suited to the type of environment facing Leicester next season.
