CCTV footage captures the BMW moments before Coventry’s fatal run-off

CCTV captured a BMW moments before it plowed into and killed a boy in Coventry. In the footage, he is seen traveling along Radford Road just seconds before hitting 12-year-old Keaton Slater.

Young Keaton died after being hit by a black BMW on Radford Road, near Aldi, at around 4.30pm on Friday (June 14). He was seriously injured and died at the scene, West Midlands Police said.

Detectives today (June 16) released a major update to the investigation and said they seized a black BMW after it was found abandoned in New Arley on Friday (June 14). It is now being forensically examined, West Midlands Police said.

One person turned himself in yesterday evening (Saturday, June 15) and was interviewed voluntarily. Police said the unnamed person had been “released under investigation.” No arrests have yet been made, West Midlands Police said.

And this afternoon, the force named Dolars Aleksanders, 21, as a suspect in the incident. The force said they wanted to speak to him on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Investigators are still looking for the driver of the BMW involved in the tragic collision on Radford Road. Today (June 16) officers will retrieve and review the CCTV.

“We would like to thank all those people who have already contacted us with information and our inquiries are progressing. But we would again appeal to those involved, or anyone who knows them, to search their conscience, do the right thing and tell us what you know.”
