A third man has been arrested in connection with the death of Hamza Mohammed in Sheffield

A third man has been arrested in connection with the death of Hamza Mohammed in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Staniforth Road in Darnall, Sheffield at 4.36pm on Saturday 8 June to reports of a serious assault. There, they found 23-year-old Hamza with a serious head wound and he was rushed to hospital.

He sadly died in hospital on Monday 10 June and his family are now being supported by the police.

A 37-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released pending further enquiries. This follows that a 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday, June 10, on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident.

He was also released on police bail.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Thursday 13 June on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on bail. A murder investigation is ongoing.

South Yorkshire Police said: “A third man has been arrested in connection with the death of 23-year-old Hamza Mohammed in Sheffield.

“At 4.36pm on Saturday 8th June we were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to reports of a serious assault on Staniforth Road in Darnall. On arrival, Hamza was found with a serious head injury. He was taken to hospital where he sadly died on Monday (June 10) evening. His family continue to be supported by our officers.

“Officers have today (Sunday 16 June) arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

“A detective-led murder investigation is ongoing. A 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday, June 10, on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. A 25-year-old man was also arrested on Thursday 13 June on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
