Dabrowski, Routliffe win Nottingham women’s doubles title ahead of Wimbledon

NOTTINGHAM — Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and teammate Erin Routliffe won the women’s doubles title Sunday at the Rothesay Open, which is a grass-court warm-up for Wimbledon.

The top seeds overcame Britain’s Harriet Dart and France’s Diane Parry 5-7, 6-3, 11-9 in the final.

The duo took the third set hard based on a superior percentage of service points won.

It was the first win of 2024 for Dabrowski and Routliffe, who were US Open women’s doubles champions in 2023.

The duo reached the final of the Miami Open in March. Dabrowski had to miss the Italian Open in May due to injury.

Dabrowski and Routliffe advanced to the final in Nottingham, England, after a 6-0, 6-4 semi-final victory over China’s Zhang Shuai and American Ashlyn Krueger earlier on Sunday.

They did not drop a set and only lost nine games in total en route to the final.

Dabrowski, 32, claimed her 16th career women’s doubles victory and fifth with Routliffe.

The next tournament for Dabrowski and Routliffe is the Rothesay Classic in Birmingham, England.
