What Kylian Mbappé said about the Liverpool transfer as an exit from PSG has finally been confirmed

Kylian Mbappé has finally confirmed that he will be leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The France captain is out of contract at the end of the season and will play his final game at the Parc des Princes this weekend against Toulouse.

Mbappé’s future has been the source of much speculation over the past 12 months after he was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer. Liverpool have had a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old dating back to his time at Monaco.

In a clip posted on PSG fans social media channelsMbappé said: “I always said I would talk to you when the time came, so I wanted to let you all know that this is my last year at PSG. I will not prolong and the adventure will end in a few weeks.

“It’s a lot of emotions. I want to thank all the teammates I’ve had, all the coaches, sporting directors and all the staff at the club. I want to thank the fans above all.

“I never thought it would be so difficult to announce that I am leaving this team, this country, Ligue 1. I think I needed this new challenge after seven years. The club will remain in my heart forever.”

Real Madrid remain in pole position to sign Mbappé. BBC Sport reported back in February that the forward had agreed to a move to the Bernabeu this summer, but there has been no confirmation to date.
