Two arrests after men were seen fighting on Leicester Street

Two people have been arrested after men were seen fighting in a Leicester street. Leicestershire Police were called to Palmerston Way, which runs between Welford Road and the Leicester Racecourse roundabout, at around 5.40pm yesterday (Sunday June 16).

It followed reports of two men fighting after apparently getting out of a BMW 1 Series near the junction with Welford Road. Two men, aged 33 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of affray.



No life-threatening or life-changing injuries were reported, police said. Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the event or caught it on camera to contact them as soon as possible.

Sergeant Nathan Cowlishaw, from South Leicester Neighborhood Policing Area (NPA), said: “Our inquiries are still in their early stages but due to the location of this incident I believe there are people who can help us establish the circumstances of the incident. I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and particularly any drivers with a dash cam. Anyone who recorded anything on their mobile phone should also contact the police.”
