Brutal attack by masked gang at Huddersfield pub leaves several injured

A brutal double attack at a Huddersfield pub has left several people injured.

A verbal row inside the Clarence Hotel in Towngate, Newsome, led to an outbreak of violence which left people with facial and head injuries. The culprits left the scene only to return wearing masks and carrying weapons which they used to launch a second attack.




The weapons were described by police as “sticks”. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said several people had been attacked.

The spokesman said: “Kirklees District CID will be speaking to anyone who saw or has information about an incident at the Clarence Hotel in Towngate just after midnight on Sunday 16 June.

“Officers were called to the pub just after midnight to reports of an incident where three male suspects had assaulted other males inside the pub following a verbal dispute.

“The suspects had then left but returned a few minutes later wearing face coverings and again attacked the victims outside the pub with batons.”
