The third year of the South Bristol street party will be bigger than ever

A busy street just south of the river will come to a standstill on Saturday as local residents and the corner pub throw a street party.

Kingston Road Street Party started as a response to the Covid pandemic when regulars from the local pub, Coronation, were sitting outside and decided to take over the whole street with some live music and dancing.

It has grown since then and this year, on June 22, will be Coronation owner Ben Cheshire’s third year running the event.

The day will kick off at noon on Saturday with a children’s show from children’s entertainer Captain Barnacle and his pirate-themed puppet show. Then for the rest of the afternoon until 5pm there will be jazz and acoustic on stage, which will be set up outside the pub.

As the afternoon turns into evening, there will be two sets by local Bristol samba legends Batala, either side of an appearance by jazz and dance music band Hexcut.

Local Bedminster band Belisha will play the street party for the third year running, with headline act Kaleida Wild taking to the stage at 9pm before a slow disco.
