Manchester City 4-0 Leeds United

Manchester City have been crowned FA Youth Cup champions for 2024 after comfortably beating Leeds United 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Early second-half goals from Justin Oboavwoduo and Jaden Heskey set the tone to help City lift the FA Youth Cup for a fourth time.

With City controlling possession early on, chances were limited for both sides to kick off proceedings.

Full starts from opponents Joel Ndala and Joshua McDonald produced the biggest threat for either side, with the latter creating perhaps the standout chance of the half.

Despite City’s dominance, there was little reward for them in the first half, with only a handful of half-chances falling to their forwards, a long-range effort from Henderson-Hall being the most notable of the first period.

But Ben Wilkinson’s side looked to be more direct and dynamic as the second half got under way and they were instantly rewarded as a strong run and strike from Oboavwoduo saw them pull one back for 1-0.

And City managed to double their lead on the hour mark. Kian Noble found his team-mate Farid Alfa-Ruprecht with an incisive pass, which allowed a simple cross for Jaden Heskey to make it two.

City would go on to add a third just ten minutes later, Stephen Mfuni heading home a header from fellow defender Noble to consolidate the result for City.

With just a 15-minute cameo to end the Final, striker Matthew Warhurst managed to add a fourth for City. He found the bottom right corner with a neat finish after an effective City counter-attack to finish the game.

With this result marking their fourth win in the competition, Manchester City move level with Aston Villa, Liverpool and West Ham, leaving them only trailing rivals Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in terms of FA Youth Cup titles.
