Kings Of Leon at Ashton Gate – everything you need to know ahead of this weekend’s gig

US rockers Kings Of Leon are coming to Bristol this weekend (June 23) to play Ashton Gate Stadium as part of their ‘Can We Please Have Fun’ world tour. The multi-platinum, multi-award winning band will return to Bristol 21 years and eight albums after their previous visit.

On the day of the concert, there will be a number of road closures in the vicinity of the stadium, as well as surrounding road restrictions, police presence and other rules and regulations. We’ve compiled a guide that contains everything you need to know about the logistics of the day.

This includes whether tickets are still available, how to pre-book your seat on a shuttle bus, where it’s best and safest to be dropped off, parking restrictions and other public transport information. You can find more information on the official FAQ page.

The ‘start time’ for the event on Sunday 23rd June is shown on the Ashton Gate website as 3pm.

Who supports Kings Of Leon?

The Vaccines and Holly Humberstone support Kings Of Leon at Ashton Gate Stadium.

Are there any tickets left?

Tickets are still available via Ticketmaster and AXS.COM. At the time of writing, prices start at £80.30 each. Tickets will not be available for purchase on the day.

Road closures

Ashton Road will be closed between 3pm and 2am on the day of the concert. Winterstoke Road will be closed between 9pm and midnight on the day of the concert. Shuttle buses have priority after the concert and are the only vehicles allowed inside the closed roads.

Travel and parking

Clean air area

Many roads near the stadium are part of the Bristol Clean Air Zone, with non-compliant cars charged between £9 and £100 per day, so if you’re traveling on the road make sure you know Bristol’s CAZ rules.

Driving and parking, taxis and drop-off/pick-up points

Before the event, there is no designated departure point at the stadium or nearby taxi stand. Roads near the stadium will be closed, have temporary waiting restrictions and will be very congested.

Organizers recommend that taxis be booked in advance and that attendees be dropped off at least half a mile from the stadium, walking the rest of the way. Parking enforcement and police will be on patrol to keep key roads moving.

Following the event, numerous road closures will be in place and the roads closest to the stadium are expected to be extremely congested – again, attendees are asked to be picked up at least half a mile from the stadium. The car park will be busy and will take some time to clear and police will be stationed nearby to ensure all waiting restrictions are enforced and the motorways are kept clear.

There are no facilities in or around the stadium for motorcycle/moped parking.

Parking, drop-off and collection for disabled people

A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available for advance booking only. To do this please call 0117 963 0600 or email [email protected].

Fans with reduced mobility will be allowed to be dropped off on Wedlock Way outside Gate 1. Please speak to the Traffic Management team on arrival to ensure they can find a safe place to drop off. Please note that there is no disabled parking on Wedlock Way.

After the event, an accessible mini-bus will operate from Barons Close opposite Gate 1 and take fans through the road closure to right next to Sainsbury’s on Winterstoke Road. Advance booking is essential so if you would like to use this service please email [email protected] or call 0117 9630 600 (Option 4 then Option 2 and Option 2 again).

BUSES

The Ashton Gate Bus Shuttle Service will operate frequent buses prior to the event between 3pm and 7pm. Post-event buses will depart after the show from Winterstoke Road when full and return to collect any remaining passengers. Travel time depends on traffic and some support acts may start before the buses arrive at the stadium.

Buses have priority after the concert and are the only vehicles allowed inside the closed roads. Parking is free (except route 3), however you have to pay for the bus ride.

Advance booking for all buses is essential. No bus tickets will be sold on the day so you must make sure you have booked before travelling. However, many routes sell out weeks in advance. Book your bus here.
