Fabrizio Romano says the “next few days” will be key in determining the future of a Leeds United player

Fabrizio Romano says the “next few days” will be crucial in deciding the future of a Leeds United player this summer after a Premier League side opened talks to sign him.

Leeds are expected to make a number of sales in the coming weeks and months to comply with Financial Fairplay amid reports the 49ers have inherited a large credit card bill from Andrea Radrizzani.

A number of players have already been linked with the exit door, including Archie Gray and Willy Gnonto. Another, of course, is the Championship Player of the Season in the form of Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman has played in the last term, having a hand in 31 goals and that will obviously attract the attention of Premier League clubs. Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham and Bournemouth have been linked.

Newcastle are said to have spoken of Summerville within the walls of St. James’ Park, while Crystal Palace could make a move if the Eagles sell either Eberechi Eze or Michael Olise in the coming months.

Fabrizio Romano provides a new update on Crysencio Summerville

On Monday, Romano reported that Brighton have now opened talks to sign Summerville after sorting out their managerial position, but also insisted that Liverpool and Chelsea remain interested in him.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano added more details to the race to sign Summerville and said the next few days could prove crucial in determining the winger’s future and where he will go on his departure.

“I have a feeling they are hoping to get closer to a done deal of around £35m/£40m, so that could be the price. The next few days will be important to see how this contest plays out, the timing of this deal is very important.”

Is Brighton the right move for Summerville this summer?

With eight Premier League clubs listed and more likely to keep an eye on the Dutchman this summer, is Brighton the right move for Summerville, with the Seagulls already boasting Kaoru Mitoma?

Probably not, unless the Japanese star leaves. The competition between Liverpool and Chelsea could prove too difficult to deal with, but the likes of West Ham, Fulham, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace could be more fruitful.

Summerville has a huge decision to make this summer with his time at Leeds a fairly well-known fact coming to an end. To get the best out of him, he needs to play regular football next season.
