Brent saw Dead & Company at the ballpark and it was a wild ride

Dead and Company is in the midst of a residency at the new $2.3 billion sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada. WMMR Philadelphia’s Brent Porche witnessed this immersive experience first hand. It’s been a wild ride and you can check out his videos below.

Dead and Company currently consists of original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann. Joining them on stage are John Mayer, Jeff Chimenti, Oteil Burbridge and Jay Lane.

How big is the Las Vegas Sphere?

The Sphere is the largest spherical structure in the world. It would be impressive on its own, standing 366 feet tall and 516 feet long. The exterior is equipped with over a million LED lights to project dynamic visuals that outshine most Vegas neon. Inside, there is a 160,000 square meter screen that reaches above and around the viewer, creating an intense and colorful spectacle.

Who has played there so far and who will play next?

Before Dead & Co’s Dead forever residency, which runs through August 10th, Phish put on a trippy show at the Vegas venue. U2 started with their successful shows there, celebrating their Achtung Baby album in living splendor.

Next up at the Sphere is a residency with the Eagles (the band, not the NFL team – although we’d love to see a Super Bowl at a venue like this!). The band just announced they’ll be playing there in September and October 2024, and tickets go on sale Friday (6/21).
