Forecasters have issued the yellow weather warning for today, Tuesday 18 June, which will run from 11am to 9pm today, with a risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms and possible travel disruption.

The Met Office said: “There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by sprinkler, standing water and/or hail leading to longer car and bus journey times.”

Forecasters also warned of possible damage to buildings and structures from lightning, as well as short-term power losses. A few homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, leading to some damage to buildings or structures, the Met Office added.
