Busy Edinburgh road closed and buses diverted following ’emergency incident’

A busy road in Edinburgh has been closed by emergency services following a rush hour incident, with buses being diverted from the scene.

Woodhall Road, at Dreghorn Loan, near Colinton, is currently closed due to an incident involving police and the ambulance service, which is understood to have happened shortly before 4pm on Tuesday 18 June.

Lothian Buses has issued a service alert affecting the 10 and 16, with Woodhall Road currently inaccessible to drivers. The tour operator said: “Due to the road closure, buses are unable to serve Woodhall Road, Torphin and Bonaly and will terminate in Westgarth Avenue until further notice.”

An eyewitness reported a road collision behind the delays, as they wrote on X: “RTC at traffic lights at top of Bridge Road, Colinton. Police present. Not sure if buses can go up Woodhall Road – I diverted via Bonaly”.

A second user added: “There is a road closure at the bottom of Westgarth Road leading to Dreghorn Loan at Colinton Road. Lots of police about.” Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
