Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca completes a permanent exit at Real Betis this week, bypassing his loan clause to stay at Sevilla long-term.

The 49ers will be confident that this summer’s transfer business is far less chaotic and out of control than last summer, when loan clauses were rife on the team after relegation.

Only a couple have such clauses in their contracts this time around, and one of them is Marc Roca, who looks to be edging closer to avoiding another loan anyway.

Marc Roca “completes” the transfer to Real Betis on a permanent basis

A report from Estadio Deportivo revealed that Roca was once again in the process of completing a move away from Leeds, but this time seeing him linked with Real Betis.

Roca spent 23/24 at Sevilla with Manuel Pellegrini’s side and has seemingly done enough to warrant negotiations for a second spell there.

However, this time he is set to sign permanently, despite confirming at the start of 2024 that he has a second loan clause should Leeds fail to get promoted – of course now the case after the play-off final.

Will Leeds be promoted next season?

Leeds are set for a PSR boost with the sale of Roca this month

Signed for £10m from Bayern Munich in 2022, Roca is not expected to leave for the same amount as the above report claims.

Instead, he will leave for less than the €12m (£10.15m) option to buy that was also included in his 23/24 loan deal.

The specifics of the fee that Leeds appear to have compromised on have yet to be revealed, but in terms of PSR, anything over £5m would go into the accounts as a profit for the Whites.

Having joined on a four-year deal in 2022, Roca is halfway through his contract at Elland Road and his £10m fee will be amortized over the deal, bringing him to £2.5m a year – so £5 million is left. the accounts.

With this deal looming, it looks like Leeds could be in line for a steady increase in PSR should they recoup more than £5m as expected after a strong season in La Liga at the age of 27.
