Construction for Hillside Court began in August 2022, led by Walter Thompson Contractors, with the home officially opening to new residents in January 2024.

When it opened, Hillside Court was Exemplar Health Care’s 50th care home, the Rotherham-based care provider has since opened another home.

Hillside Court focuses on supporting adults living with complex mental health, dementia and neuro-disability needs. The house has 41 large bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, in four units. The house has communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, an activity centre, therapy room, consultation room, visitor suite and a large accessible garden.

Laura Clegg, home manager, said: “After months of planning, preparation and team-building, it was really exciting to finally open our doors and get down to supporting the people of Leeds.

“Now that we’ve been open for a few months and have our first residents living with us, it’s really starting to feel like home – especially now that we’ve cut the ribbon and had a party to celebrate.

“Our entire team wants to create a warm, inclusive and vibrant community where the people we support can thrive, families can find support and where compassionate care is at the forefront of everything we do.

“We know this type of service is in high demand for people and families in the local area and our dedicated team look forward to working with local commissioners, social workers and families to make a positive difference to people who need healthcare across long term. and support.”
