The arson attack on a derelict building in St Phillips

An arson investigation has been launched after a “deliberate” fire broke out in a derelict building in Bristol. At least five fire engines were called to the scene of the blaze in St Phillips just before midday.

As firefighters arrived at the abandoned building, they found a number of burning objects. The fire involved trash and school chairs. The cause of the fire is believed to be intentional.




An eyewitness told BristolLive that several fire and police vehicles were at the scene along Queen Ann Road. It was also reported that thick black smoke could be seen coming from the second floor window of the building.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: “Crews from Temple, Bedminster, Kingswood, Hicks Gate and Patchway were called to reports of a fire in a derelict building at 11.26am on Queen Ann Road, St Phillips,

“Upon arrival crews located a fire involving trash and school chairs, crews used six breathing apparatus, a turntable ladder and multiple jets to extinguish the fire.

“The cause is believed to be deliberate.” Avon and Somerset Police have also been contacted for comment.
