The cooking pot triggers a call to a block of flats in Bradford

An apartment building was temporarily evacuated following a cooking-related fire Wednesday afternoon.

Bradford Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to a report of a fire at a multi-story, low-rise residential complex on Center Street in the city’s east end. A pot on the stove was apparently to blame – it was quickly removed by firefighters.

No injuries were reported. There is no damage estimate, although a new pot will likely be needed, new Chief Michael Rozario said Bradford Today.

“We ventilated the building to remove the smell and smoke from the contents of the pot,” he said.

Everyone returned to their units “very quickly” after ventilation was complete, Rozario said.
