Body found in Connecticut River believed to be missing Barnet man

BARNET — Members of the New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game discovered a body in the Connecticut River near Monroe just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, believed to be that of Gerard Poulin, 37, of Barnett.

Preliminary identification suggests the body is Poulin, who was the subject of a June 5 search.

The body was transported to the New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, along with confirmation of identity.

Vermont State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Poulin’s death.

Authorities have not released how Poulin ended up in the river or the events that led to his disappearance.

Vermont State Police said no further details are available at this time, but pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
