BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen in tears as the ‘proud’ son’s words were read on air

Much-loved Midlands TV presenter Nick Owen was left in tears as a message from his son was read out on air. The long-serving presenter of BBC Midlands Today was honored with an MBE in the recent King’s Birthday Honours.

More messages from well-wishers on social media were read on air on Monday, and correspondent Ben Godfrey surprised Nick by ending the segment with a final message from his son Tim Owen reports the BBC .




Nick said the award was “overwhelming” and the response was “amazing”.

“I’m excited, I really am,” he added.

In his message, Tim simply said “so proud of you dad”, leaving Nick in tears.

“My Tim, bless you,” he said. He added: “I want to thank everyone who has been in touch and been so supportive.”
