Manchester City insider reveals ‘growing feeling’ among City Group staff over Pep Guardiola’s future

There is now reportedly a positive “sense of growth” around incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola from within the City Group staff.

The Catalan coach came fresh off the back of a special visit to welcome Manchester City’s key investor, owner Sheikh Mansour, to his home in Abu Dhabi, where the club also claimed their fourth successive Premier League crown.

After another record-breaking season for the Premier League champions, Mansour was only too keen to follow Pep Guardiola to his homeland, while also receiving a visit from City Group managing director Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also attended a somewhat secretive meeting, with many supporters anxiously awaiting updates on the future of Pep Guardiola, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad.

And that impatience is apparently a sentiment shared within City Group, with a new report detailing the increasingly positive mood surrounding the Catalan’s chances of extending his deal at the club into a 10th season.

It is also claimed that the Catalan manager’s recent visit to see club patron Sheikh Mansour in Abu Dhabi has “clearly changed the mood around him”, with Guardiola alongside Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano.

The only recent update Manchester City fans have received from within the club surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future came from chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, who remained somewhat coy during his annual end-of-season interview earlier this month.

“We’ve had this conversation many times before, you know, over the years of the contract,” Al Mubarak told the club’s official website, talking about a treble season for Pep Guardiola and his players.

He continued: “Pep has always been fully committed to this club, fully committed to every contract he signed with us.

“This decision on his future is always a decision we will make together and I have no doubt that we will find, as we always have, the right solution that works for Pep and works for us.”
