The reason explained for Norwich City’s clear belief that they will beat Leeds United and reach Wembley

Norwich City manager David Wagner says his side have a firm belief they can get the job done against Leeds United and move a step closer to promotion. The Canaries boss cited his players’ approach, attitude and performances in previous big games this season as a perfect example of how they have shown how to go about their business.

In their big derby with promoted Ipswich Town this season, Norwich drew 2-2 at the Tractor Boys in December, then beat them 1-0 in the reverse fixture in April. While Norwich have been unbeaten against Leeds twice this season, they are unbeaten at home against fellow play-off sides West Brom and Southampton.

Wagner was asked about how his team will prepare for the game, where he revealed that each player approaches the big games in their own, individual way. “Some people get excited three days before the game, others get excited when we go to the pre-match table. We have to keep everyone calm and focused. That’s when the excitement will start,” he said.

“One of our first targets was the top six, fighting for promotion. The first step has been taken. We’ve already had some exciting games where players have delivered, derbies, games we have to win. That gives us confidence and the belief that we can deliver again.

“We have always done the same and that is what we will do again, to focus on the details. Irrelevant things to keep away, get our messages across. We will only have a chance if we do it together, on the field and in the stands.”
