Leeds United are set to sell Marc Roca to Real Betis this summer, but the reported fee from Spain may not be too ideal for the 49ers.

Leeds will need to sell this summer before planning any ambitious spending at the top of the Championship, and a simple place to start is with a few loan players.

For Marc Roca, it seems simple enough to join Real Betis with the loan clause active, but he is ready to make a permanent move to the Sevilla club.

Marc Roca is approaching a permanent transfer to Real Betis, fee revealed

Roca’s time in La Liga with Betis has been a fruitful one for him, with frequent reports this week detailing a deal close to being signed.

The latest comes from Relevo, who share that the midfielder has agreed to join permanently as the two clubs appear to be ready for a transfer.

Leeds were said to have valued the 27-year-old at around €8m (£6.76m) during those negotiations, but the above report now claims the Spanish club have convinced Leeds under 5 million euros (£4.23 million):

“The possibility of buying Roca was also raised by Betis in that negotiation on the table.

“Although Leeds initially valued the footballer at eight million euros, discussions between the clubs and the player’s desire to land at Heliopolis brought the deal very close to being closed for less than five, a price that is reasonable in Heliopolis.”

Happy to have Aaronson back?

Contrasting reports appear about Roca from the local press

As for Leeds paying off Roca’s £10m transfer from Bayern Munich in 2022: two years on, his current value on the club’s books is £5m, which is another loss to whites if this above charge is as reported. .

In contrast, LeedsLive’s Beren Cross claimed the club would not record a fee loss on Roca, which has now been backed by YEP, who share that Leeds will not seek to record an accounting loss as the deal is due to be completed in the “next few days”:

Roca should have netted Leeds a decent profit, but it’s not the end of the world

Roca’s talents should have seen Leeds bank well over £5m for him, but the position Leeds are in with this transfer indicates they didn’t have much leverage.

Betis have done well to talk us down from around £10m and that will be reflected in how much of an impact this has on our position in the PSR.

If the 49ers were willing to drop the valuation, they have to be confident that a short sale won’t hurt what we’re trying to do.
