We’re down to our last week of June and we can’t believe how quickly the last month has gone by.

Well, you know what they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun” and all that.

But despite how cliche this saying is, it certainly sums up the last few weeks because Greater Manchester The social calendar has been full of food festivals, cultural celebrations, sports tournaments, healthy family events and more – and luckily, there’s even more where that came from.

Armed Forces Week 2024

Manchester city centre

Monday 24 – Saturday 29 June

Manchester is set to pay tribute to the outstanding contribution of the nation’s armed forces this week.

As well as the Armed Forces flag being flown on top of the Central Library all week, the actual Armed Forces Day on Saturday will see a military parade and ‘thrilling’ performances, while Manchester City Council will also host a family fun day in St Peter’s Square from 11am where members of the public can go and get involved for free.

There will be a host of themed activities, all honoring members of the Armed Forces Community for their dedication and service.

Wild

Manchester Museum

Monday 24 June – to be continued

A ground-breaking new exhibition exploring our relationship with the natural world is now open at Manchester Museum.

A “wild” look at how humans create, rebuild and repair connections with nature and how the natural world has traditionally been presented and idealized through Western art, as well as unique approaches to environmental recovery.

The exhibition will also crucially look at how we can tackle the climate and biodiversity crisis by making the world wilder.

Disney’s Aladdin

Palace Theater Manchester

The magic carpet has officially landed as Disney’s hit musical Aladdin is now here in Manchester for the summer.

Based on the beloved 1992 animated film of the same name and following several critically acclaimed and sell-out runs on both Broadway and London’s West End since it first debuted in 2011, the Tony and Olivier Award-nominated production arrived on stage at the iconic Palace Theater in Manchester.

The musical features all the timeless songs we know and love from the film, and people are already describing it as a seriously magical show.

Looking for where to watch UEFA Euro 2024 in Greater Manchester this summer?

European football’s flagship tournament has officially started now.

Manchester College’s ‘More Mancunian’ Exhibition

Photography students from Manchester College will present their ‘Greater Mancunians’ project as part of a landmark exhibition at Manchester Central Library’s Main Exhibition Hall from this week.

150 students took part in the ground-breaking photography project and it features images of some of Manchester’s most famous and influential people, shot in numerous locations across the city.

More than 100 contributors are featured in the project, including musicians Noel Gallagher and Johnny Marr, athletes Diane Modahl and Ricky Hatton, local politicians Andy Burnham, Angela Rayner and Bev Craig, actors Maxine Peake and Bill Roache, artists Stan Chow and AKSE P. – 19, and other local figures such as Jonathan Warburton, Simon Martin and Professor Erinma Bell MBE.

Museum of Science and Industry

Want to explore the Yorkshire Dales in all its glory this summer?

Residents of Greater Manchester are now able to hop on board a new train service to discover one of the North’s most scenic spots.

If you’re looking for a scenic adventure over the next couple of months then Northern has decided to bring back the ‘Yorkshire Dales Explorer’ train after it proved so popular with passengers the last time it went on its journeys.

The new service now runs from Rochdale to Ribblesdale twice a day every Saturday throughout the summer and tickets will cost you around £25 each.

Every week from Wednesday to Sunday you can head to the popular social hub of the Green Quarter and find an exciting range of traders cooking fresh food to order right in front of your eyes by some of the UK’s most passionate street chefs.

GRUB only works with small, independent businesses, and some of those in this week’s lineup include Oscar’s Dogs, Korean Grub Club, and Munchie Mummy’s Bakery.

Trafford Palazzo is hosting a Glastonbury-themed festival for all the family this week.

IRONMAN UK returns to Bolton once again this weekend.

Manchester Nature Festival 2024

Manchester Nature Festival returns to Heaton Park on Sunday for a celebration of the wild plants and creatures that inhabit the city and its surrounds.

Organized each year by the Manchester Nature Consortium, there’s everything from awareness, woodland bathing and giant Jenga, to wildlife recording, woodland games, willow weaving, scavenger hunts, den building and much more where get involved for free throughout the day. .

You’ll probably also want to dress up in your best insect-themed dresses to take part in the “Pollinator Parade” as well.
