The Northern Lights are set to return tonight – when and where to see them

The Northern Lights are set to make another stunning appearance tonight (May 11). The BBC reported this morning (May 10) that we were able to see a repeat of the spectacular light show that bathed the entire Kingdom in incredible light.

Ribbons of pink, purple, blue and green lights danced across the dark night sky last night as people took out their mobile phones to capture the rare moment. The Met Office confirmed that last night (May 10) was the first extreme geomagnetic storm since 2003.

For those who missed the incredible scenes last night, there may be a chance to see the lights tonight. It has been reported that the Northern Lights are likely to be visible again this evening, but on a reduced scale.

Krista Hammond, the Met Office’s space weather manager, said: “Aurora visibility may persist until Saturday evening, but it is currently likely to be less widespread than on Friday evening, with northern areas of May Britain continue to have the best. viewing potential.”

No exact times have been given yet, but the best time to see the Northern Lights tends to be between 10pm and 2am.

Many saw the lights across Coventry and Warwickshire from 11pm last night and some were amazed to see the famous light show from their back gardens.
