Driver dies in hospital after road crash in Fife

A driver has died in hospital following a road accident in Fife.

The single vehicle collision involving a silver Volkswagen Golf happened on the B981 between Crossgates and Inverkeithing at around 6.10pm on Wednesday.

The 52-year-old man who was driving the car was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but died a short time later.

Police said his family has been informed. The road was closed for about four hours.

Officers are now appealing for information from the public as they investigate the crash.

Sergeant Lee Walkingshaw said: “We are providing support to the family of the man who died as our inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this accident.

“This happened in broad daylight on a busy road and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage that could help our investigation to come forward as soon as possible.”
