Jay Slater spotted ‘walking alone’ as new image emerges

A local Tenerife woman says missing British teenager Jay Slater was seen “walking on his own” before he disappeared, as search efforts continue for the 19-year-old. The bricklayer’s apprentice has been missing since Monday, June 17, after he went to an address in the Rural de Teno area with two people he met at a music festival, according to reports.

The local, who was named as Araceli, shed light on the situation, recalling seeing two Britons staying at a rental property. Jay was on holiday in the Canary Islands, where he attended the three-day NRG festival, MirrorOnline reports.

Apparently Jay had missed a bus back to his accommodation on Monday morning and called his friend Lucy Mae to say he needed water and that his phone battery was at 1%. The teenager began to walk back to where he was staying, which was an 11-hour walk away.

Since then, police have been searching a mountainous rural area in the northwest of the island where he was last located, near the village of Masca. Light has now been shed on the two men she was with on Sunday night, as images emerge of the rental property, Casa Abuela Tina, where she was staying.

A woman named only as Araceli, who works in the business next door to the rental property, said: “I never saw the missing boy but I know people saw him walking alone. I saw the two Brits who stayed here.

“They came for cafe con leche a few times. One was about 40 years old. The other was a little younger.” She added: “Police have spoken to both of them.
