The hottest spots in Cornwall today as temperatures soar to 23C

The warm weather will continue in Cornwall this weekend, with a popular coastal town reaching highs of 23C. This is the highest temperature in the South West region today (May 11).

Cornwall was dazzled by spectacular views of the Northern Lights last night and has now woken up to a warm and sunny weekend. As the day progresses, the weather is expected to remain warm and dry, reaching the mid-teens and even reaching the twenties in some places.

That’s good news for beachgoers, as some of Cornwall’s most popular tourist spots will be some of the hottest spots. Bude will be warmest at a comfortable 23 degrees starting early this afternoon with minimal cloud.

Other coastal spots including St Ives and Newquay will enjoy the heat, both reaching highs of 20C. Further inland will also enjoy warm weather, with Bodmin and Launceston also reaching the early twenties. South Cornwall will not be so hot, with Falmouth and Truro staying around 15 to 16C for most of the day.

While the Met Office has issued a gale warning for most of the South West, Cornwall is expected to escape this. The region will continue to see mostly warm and dry weather through the weekend.

By Monday (May 13), Cornwall will have cooled significantly into the low teens in most places. Cloudy and rainy weather will also appear early next week.
