9 players to watch at Copa America 2024 – 2 ex-Liverpool and 7 transfer links – Liverpool FC

With Copa America 2024 in mind, we’ve named nine non-Liverpool players you should be watching at the tournament.

Four Liverpool players are taking part in this summer’s Copa America in the US and you can read all about them in our guide to the tournament Here.

However, this list gives you an alternative list of names to keep an eye on as you look to fill your football needs during the break from club football.

Dario Osorio – Chile

Dario Osorio is one of the most exciting young players in South America and will line up for Chile after an impressive season with Danish champions Midtjylland.

The striker is only 20 years old and has already been linked with Liverpool by Chilean newspaper, At Tercera.

As a left-handed right winger, he fits the mold of a long-term replacement for Mo Salah. Last season, he scored nine goals and provided two assists in 25 appearances.

Luis Suarez – Uruguay

Having been given the number 9 shirt back by Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez goes into the tournament as a popular figure in the Uruguay squad, but that doesn’t mean he will start.

Manager Marcelo Bielsa selected the striker despite not featuring in any of the three warm-up friendlies for the tournament.

Even if the 37-year-old’s minutes are reduced this time around, he’ll do his best to leave his mark on the competition in whatever time he gets on the court.

Santiago Gimenez – Mexico

Twenty-six goals in 41 appearances will attract interest. The fact that Santiago Gimenez has done so under Arne Slot this season creates an obvious breeding ground for rumours.

At just 23 years old, the Feyenoord forward is left-footed, already 6 meters tall and plays for Mexico.

After starting the most recent friendly, a 3-2 defeat against Brazil, Gimenez is expected to start the tournament opener on June 23 against Jamaica.

Piero Hincapie – Ecuador

Piero Hincapie has long interested Liverpool, but with Xabi Alonso remaining at his club Bayer Leverkusen, the rumors have started to die down.

Liverpool could do a lot worse than to sign the cult left-back, who has been a key figure in this season’s unbeaten Bundesliga campaign.

However, he would cost at least £43m and is likely to play at left-back for Ecuador.

Willian Pacho – Ecuador

The reason why Hincapie will likely play at left-back is due to the presence of Willian Pacho, who should play as a left-centre-back.

He has excelled for Frankfurt in recent years and won several plaudits this season despite his side finishing sixth.

Repeatedly reported in the German media, the speculation about the defender has “substance”, according to Merseyside journalist Neil Jones.

Pacho is particularly dominant on the pitch and is strong in possession, suggesting he could adapt quickly to the system used by Slot.

Ederson – Brazil

Ederson has been rumored as a transfer target for Liverpool several times already this summer. In any case, This is Anfield he understands that he doesn’t figure very well on any short list.

Despite this, Ederson is worth keeping an eye on as he aims to help Brazil win and gain revenge on rivals Argentina, who beat them in the 2021 final at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Ederson is not expected to start for manager Dorival Junior but could come off the bench and make an impact in a group that includes Costa Rica, Paraguay and Colombia.

Another Canadian, Jonathan David is one of Canada’s key men and plays in a group for them that also includes Argentina, Peru and Chile.

With quick feet and a great change of pace, he scored 26 goals for Lille last season as they finished fourth in Ligue 1.

It was first reported that Liverpool had an eye on the forward when he was at Gent, and while links have died down of late, he is a player who would excite fans.

Antonee Robinson will be a familiar name to those in the Premier League, having played in 37 of Fulham’s 38 games last season.

The 26-year-old impressed on the left side of the back last season, scoring seven goals as he became a stalwart of Marco Silva’s side.

With Liverpool potentially in the market for a full-back who could swap Andy Robertson, Robinson could be seen as a good option with many good years ahead of him.

We’ll see him for the USA against Uruguay’s Nunez in the final game of Group C.
