Penzance armed robbery: Police looking for man in North Face jacket

New images have been released of a masked man wanted in connection with an armed robbery. The suspect, armed with a knife, took bags of money from a security guard outside Sainsbury’s on Jelbert Way in Penzance before escaping on a moped, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

Officers were called to the scene at around 10.18am on Thursday 20 June. A masked man was reported to have approached a security van, taken bags of money from the guard and fled the scene. Police released more CCTV images yesterday in their quest to identify the man, and further images have since been released.

The man is described as being over 6ft tall and wearing a black North Face coat, black trousers, a black face covering and a black bicycle helmet. The moped was described as small and black with a red and black storage box on the back.

After carrying out further inquiries on Thursday night, officers are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who may recognize the man or may have seen what happened. In a statement, police urged the public not to speculate on social media.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who has seen this man or knows who he is and from anyone who has seen or knows the location of the moped. Please do not approach, but call the police immediately. We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area and has dash cam footage or witnessed the incident,” Devon and Cornwall Police said.
