England rugby kicks off their summer international competition on Saturday when they take on Japan in their home country for the first time in a test match for the Lipovitan D Challenge Cup.

England toured Japan in 1971 and 1979, playing non-Test matches, and the two nations have since met in four more international matches – 1987, 2018, 2022 and at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
