Club set to sell player to buy Manchester City – Working to convince Pep’s side to ‘drop price’

Over the past week, we’ve covered claims in Spain that Real Sociedad are keen to sign Manchester City’s Sergio Gómez.

Three days ago, AS said the La Liga side were working on a formula to convince Manchester City after reaching a “total agreement” with the left-back.

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo also claims that La Real have “arranged everything” with the Manchester City player.

The 23-year-old wants to join Real Sociedad and made that clear when they first made their approach.

Manchester City paid €15 million to buy him from Anderlecht in August 2022. The report says they are demanding the same amount to sanction his sale this summer. This, along with Milan and an unnamed team’s interest in Gómez is an obstacle for the Spanish club.

It is claimed that Real Sociedad are still focused on making the transfer cheaper, possibly by introducing a sell-on clause or a buy-back option.

Mundo add La Real are looking to sell Robin Le Normand to Atlético Madrid for €30m plus bonuses and aim to use that money to sign Gómez.

To summarize, Real Sociedad have an agreement with the player and are now working to convince Manchester City to “drop the price”.
