Greater Manchester local council election results 2024 as announced

The people of Greater Manchester have cast their vote in the 2024 local elections. Councilors are being elected in Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan

Bolton, Stockport, Tameside, Wigan and Oldham results are expected in the early hours of Friday morning, with Manchester council results expected on Friday from 1pm, Rochdale from 2.30pm, Trafford from 3.30pm and Bury from 4 p.m.

Last to speak will be Salford council from 5pm on Sunday 5 May.

In total, more than 2,500 council seats were up for grabs across 107 local authorities in England. Mayoral elections were held in East Midland, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, North East, South Yorkshire, West Midlands, West Yorkshire, York and North Yorkshire, London and Salford.

There were also elections for police and crime commissioners in England and Wales – but not in Greater Manchester, London, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. Polling stations closed at 22:00 on Thursday 2 May

The local elections in May are the last major electoral test for all political parties before the general elections, which are due to take place at the end of this year.
