The Festival of India returns to Barrie’s waterfront this weekend

“The festival is getting bigger and more popular because of its authenticity and meaningful celebration,” says the official.

The annual Festival of India returns to Barrie this weekend.

Jaggarnath Ratha Yatra: The Festival of India, which organizers say gets “bigger and more popular” every year, is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John Hayter General Community Center Southshore along the city’s waterfront. .

“We are able to delight local Barrie residents as well as visitors from across the GTA. As we saw last year, the festival is getting bigger and more popular because of its authenticity and meaningful celebration,” said Naina Sharma, spokesperson for Iskcon Barrie.

With the help of volunteers, Sharma said the crowd will pull a float along the lakeside paths to the community center, followed by singing, dancing and a vegetarian feast.

The event will also feature children’s shows and “ecstatic live musical performances,” she added.

All community members are welcome to attend.
