Vincent Van Gogh’s former art school in south London is for sale for £3 million

Want to relax in the same place where Vincent Van Gogh used to take drawing lessons? Now’s your chance. A south London property that was once part of an art school attended by the one-eared Dutch painter has just gone on the market.

Named Studio One, the Grade II listed property* once part of the Lambeth School of Art. Van Gogh is believed to have attended the school as a young man in the 1870s. The historic art school was converted into residences in the 1980s by renowned British architect Tony Fretton and is now for sale with estate agents Harris Le Beau for £3 million.

Studio One is spread over two floors and is in a secluded location with a cobbled courtyard. No need to worry about bumping your head, both the reception room and master bedroom enjoy 14 foot high ceilings. The three-bedroom home also has a handcrafted kitchen and two bathrooms.

“This elegant residence combines classic architecture with modern comfort, offering a unique blend of luxury and sophistication,” says Joe Le Beau of Harris Le Beau.

Some of the decorations include carved statues from the nearby church and a large wooden table originally from a monastery. These pieces are mixed with contemporary furniture and sit on the original school classroom floors. Think: one of history’s most famous artists might once have walked the same floors.
