Leeds United right-back Connor Roberts managed this week unscathed after returning to the team against Southampton.

Leeds’ form has dropped dramatically since the international break in March and there are several factors at play.

One of them was injuries to key players representing their countries, including Wales’ Connor Roberts on loan from Burnley.

Roberts returned to the Leeds team against Southampton

Leeds’ home clash against Southampton had all the vibes of a dead rubber, despite both sides having key motivation to play well ahead of the play-offs where they could meet at Wembley.

The second half brought an injury boost for Roberts though, featuring for the first time since the defeat at Blackburn Rovers, missing games against Middlesbrough and QPR.

He came off the bench and seemingly made it through the cameo without aggravating his problem, playing 12 minutes in the loss to the Saints.

Who will win the playoffs?

Graham Smyth details the new Roberts update

Daniel Farke’s pre-Norwich City press conference brought some big squad news in the form of Patrick Bamford ruled out for both legs of the semi-final, while Dan James looks set to return.

However, no mention was made of Roberts’ recovery and whether he is fit to face the Canaries, but YEP’s Graham Smyth shared this update:

Roberts must start at right-back for Leeds

Sam Byram’s aerial presence could be important for us on Sunday against one of the best market teams in the league, but in open play this is a no-brainer.

Roberts is a much more solid option for us 1v1 against Norwich’s creative players and gives us a lot more possession too.

If fit to start, Farke needs to put Roberts in the back four to give us more chances with the ball.
