Wigan Warriors secured a comfortable win against lowly London Broncos to move past St Helens into top spot in Super League.

Jack Farrimond scored twice on his home debut for Wigan, with Liam Marshall and Abbas Miski adding to their tally.

Jake Wardle continued the drive with an impressive run-in for the hosts and added a second just minutes later.

London rarely threatened to get on the scoreboard but almost ran in a late consolation as Jack Hughes crossed only to be knocked down in the process.

Victory for Wigan means they move to the top of Super League with a two-point cushion over St Helens, who face Salford on Sunday.

London, meanwhile, remain bottom with one win this season.

It took the hosts just three minutes to take the lead, courtesy of Farrimond, who did well to weave through the London defense to slot over, while later linking up with Junior Nsemba to splash and flick over second.

Not content with two impressive scores, Bevan French and Marshall combined for Wigan’s third, the former sending the latter through following a clever lateral move to catch the Broncos.

London were denied a reply just after the half-hour when Ugo Tison pounced, but a powerful Zach Eckersley attack forced him to tap over.

French was again in the thick of the action and his pass sent over Miski to give Wigan a 24-point lead at the break.

The Broncos’ task was made more difficult after the break when Emmanuel Waine saw yellow for a nasty challenge on Kruise Leeming, who was sent off shortly after.

Wigan kept up the pressure and were more in front thanks to a stunning passing move starting on the halfway line, putting Wardle through to run in with ease.

Wardle’s second came quickly after his first as the home side were rewarded with another set which forced a goal-line lay-off leading to his touchdown.

Farrimond came agonizingly close to what would have been a maiden try-treble at home as he looked to work an offload from Marshall but spilled the ball before he could run on.
