Of the experienced, Ant Colony comfortably looks the most exciting after shaping with promise in a hot race at Newbury three weeks ago. Green was under pressure there and should do better this time around, but there are a few notable newcomers in the opposition. Uncle Sam and Holbrook are considered gifts SERGIO PARISSE he is related to several winning sprinters and this first season sire has made a flying start to his stallion career.

This looks like a lively race for the grade and there are several interesting contenders. Catherine Chroi has been in fine form since returning to Iain Jardine’s yard but is 11lb heavier than Sunday’s win at Hamilton and will need a third straight personal best at 57 appearance at the hippodrome. Blue Collar Lad, Shark Two One, Captain Dandy and Rwenearlytheredad are on the shortlist but the two against the field are Gherkin and FIVE WINDS (NAP).

The former traveled strongly on the return and today’s conditions might suit it better, but the preference is for the unexposed colt of Jack Jones. Her two handicap runs, both over 7f, have been promising and there is a good chance she will step up tackling this trip for the first time.

Fiddlers Green has won three of his last four races and has taken his last two by wide margins on his return to turf. The handicap has now had its say, which it didn’t last time, but another win for John O’Shea’s 5-year-old would not be a surprise. There are alternatives, including ROGUE TORNADOwho has been solid in his four handicaps in the last quarter, and D Day Arvalenreeva, who is on the same spot as when he won on C&D last May

That seems competitive. Bell Shot has rediscovered his excitement for Mick Appleby and looks set for another big run, while Valtellina and Al Muqdad still have potential and Wake Up Harry could yet transfer his AW form to the grass. The two against the field are Alseeyerthere, who came through her Doncaster comeback as a mare that was ahead of her mark and MR MAXI. He is again on a handy point and his failure in the mud at Catterick is quite easily forgiven.

Fair Point sets the standard and has solid claims, but the drying pitch may not be ideal on today’s ride. Saeed bin Suroor has won this race with a newcomer in two of the last five rounds and Historic City is an exciting debutant, as is Westridge. Waleefy, royally bred, shouldn’t be far off, but CAVALRY CALL shaped with some promise in Wood Ditton, sharing a pair that have since run well in calmer waters. He may find enough improvement to be second time lucky.

An interesting contest. In-form Nivoko (second choice) and Law Supreme will both be popular, while there are a few others that cases can be made for. These include TOBETSOwhich should be better for his resurgence and in less testing conditions could prove to be up to the task.

A thin contest where the top handicappers are the ones to focus on. If conditions continue to dry, he is likely to boost Isle Of Wolves’ claims, while last-place winner Crazy Crackers could go well in his follow-up attempt after a 3lb rise. In any case, ANGEL ON HIGH he returned to better form last time and with course form a plus he can go even better.
