Abi’s Coronation Street tormentor exposed as ‘Stefan ruled out’ – but ‘it’s not Cassie’

Coronation Street fans think they know who wants to take Abi Franklin after weeks of speculation, but it might not be Stefan Brent or Cassie Plummer.

Despite both characters being tipped to be exposed as the person behind Abi’s deepfake porn videos, new scenes would suggest otherwise. Cassie has long been considered the culprit by fans, but some viewers aren’t sure she knows how to do it.

Then, with Stefan, their feud over his son Corey Brent left fans convinced it was him — until Wednesday’s episode suggested he might be innocent. Despite Abi and Kevin claiming he was to blame, Stefan became quite defensive and helped the police with their enquiries, claiming he had nothing to hide.

So Stefan has now been excluded or is he just hiding the truth? Is Cassie also good at hiding what she’s up to or maybe she has nothing to do with it?

Viewers begin to suspect that none of them are to blame, and in fact, new villain Joel Deering is behind the videos. He’s made his disrespect for women quite clear, with him being exposed as an abuser and someone who grooms young girls – not to mention him killing Lauren Bolton.

On social media, after Stefan appeared to protest his innocence, viewers suggested that Joel or perhaps newcomer Kit Green were to blame. One fan said: “I think the troll is Joel or Kit.” Another wrote: “Same,” as a third said: “At first I thought it was Cassie but I think you might be on to something either Kit or Joel.”

It comes as Kit was seen helping frame Nathan Curtis for Lauren’s murder, amid his revealed connection to Bernie Winter. Meanwhile, Joel set Nathan up knowing full well that he was the one who attacked Lauren after apparently grooming her for months.

It’s unknown why one of the characters would target Abi, but it looks like there’s more to learn about Joel. Then again, Stefan probably has the biggest reason to target her, so is he just lying about being innocent?
