Minibus tires at a Black Country day center have been slashed twice in 48 hours

Staff at Select Lifestyle’s Rowley Regis day center were shocked to find six vans out of service on Wednesday morning.

Users of the Rowley Regis centre, which includes adults with severe learning difficulties, were unable to attend, causing upset and forcing families to change their plans at the last minute.

Flat tire

After spending £200 per tire on the six vehicles and moving them to an alternative site, the vandals struck again, attacking two more minibuses on Thursday evening.

Select Lifestyle director Councilor Les Trumpeter was left speechless when he realized the minibuses had been attacked again.

Sandwell Charlemont Council and Grove Vale Councilor said: “The chaos caused by the removal of our minibuses is hard to explain. Our daycare center should have been full, but instead it was empty, with a lot of really unhappy people stuck at home.

“It’s not just our users who rely on the hub, their families can also go to work or go out and know their loved ones are in the hub. Some of our users have severe autism and any change in routine can be very disruptive. .”

Select Lifestyle’s Thrones Road center opened last year and has sensory rooms, music rooms, arts and crafts rooms and classrooms that can offer vocational training.

Select Lifestyles supports those with a variety of conditions, including those with acquired brain injuries, those with challenging behaviors and those with autism.

Councilor Trumpeter is shocked that minibuses have been targeted in such a malicious manner.

He said: “We have CCTV footage of a man eagerly stabbing tyres, if anyone recognizes him please tell the police.”
