Soccer-Leicester City sacks director of football

LONDON, Dec (Shanghai: 600875.SS – News) 14 (Reuters) – Leicester City sacked director of football Terry Robinson on Sunday as the Premier League’s bottom side look to avoid another disappointing transfer window.

The England central team, who have not won since beating Manchester United (NYSE: MANU – news ) 5-3 in September, announced on their website (www.lcfc.com/) that Robinson’s contract was terminated.

“Current Academy Director Jon Rudkin will take over his responsibilities as Director of Football,” the statement added.

Manager Nigel Pearson may now feel he has little breathing time, with the promoted side’s problems focused on pre-season recruitment.

Of the 10 new signings, only striker Leonardo Ulloa and midfielder Esteban Cambiasso have made a real first-team impact, with the former struggling for goals after an initial purple patch.

The Foxes, who count Gary Lineker among their most senior fans, lost 1-0 at home to champions Manchester City on Saturday and are without a win in 11 league games.

The Thai-owned club are three points off 10 points from 16 matches.
