12 possible exits and 6 potential arrivals – How Leeds United’s transfer window could play out

Leeds United are set for a busy summer of both arrivals and departures in the transfer market as they look to make their bid to win promotion to the Premier League a success at the second time of asking.

After missing out on promotion to the Championship play-off final, the Whites will need to rebalance their books to keep their spending within PSR rules and some big outings are expected for United to meet those regulations.

Leeds also have a number of returning loan players that they will need to transfer, but more departures also mean that Daniel Farke’s side will need to recruit well to compete at the top of the the championship table.

As such, Leeds Live has taken a look at all the potential arrivals and departures that Leeds will be looking at this summer as they look to right the wrongs of last season.

arrivals

Ben Johnson

Johnson is set to become available on a free transfer next month unless he agrees new terms with West Ham United. The Hammers have offered the former England Under-21 international a new deal, but the lure of regular first-team football could tempt him away from East London.

The 24-year-old made just 14 Premier League appearances last term and with Leeds looking for a new right-back this summer, it could prove to be a win-win move.

Joe Rodon

Rodon seriously impressed for Leeds last season during his loan spell at Tottenham and is almost certain to leave north London this summer.

The question remains whether the Whites can convince Rodon to ditch the Championship for another season amid possible Premier League interest. The appointment of Steve Cooper at Leicester City could see him make a move for Rodon, who he managed at Swansea City.

Alfie Gilchrist

Gilchrist broke into the Chelsea first team last season and can play anywhere in the back four. The 20-year-old made 20 appearances for the Blues in all competitions last term and could be available on loan this summer.

Oliver Skipp

Leeds could be in the market for a central midfielder and Skipp could be available to leave Tottenham this summer.

The former England Under-21 international midfielder barely saw regular first-team football last season and enjoyed a successful loan spell at Norwich under Leeds manager Daniel Farke.

Callum O’Hare

O’Hare is available on a free transfer and is one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in the Championship. He scored 10 goals for Coventry City last season and the 26-year-old is ready to take the next step in his career.

The Aston Villa academy graduate has been likened to Jack Grealish and Leeds would be hard-pressed to find better value in the transfer market this summer.

Karamoko Dembele

The former Celtic winger, who made his debut for the Scottish champions as a teenager, is free to leave French side Stade Brest this summer after a successful loan spell at Blackpool last term.

The 21-year-old scored nine goals and registered 14 assists for the Tangerines last term and given the hype that surrounded the former England youth international in his teenage years, he could prove to be a cost effective deal to hit in leeds. looking for a new wide man.

Rasmus Kristensen

Kristensen failed to impress at Roma during his loan spell last season but has no real future at Elland Road – especially after Cody Drameh was offered new terms following his loan spell at Birmingham City.

The Denmark international has three years left on his current deal at Elland Road and the Whites could offload the 26-year-old.

Diego Llorente

Similarly, Llorente did not do enough during his loan spell at Roma to warrant a permanent move and the Spain international defender will return to Elland Road with no future at the club.

He too is under contract until 2027 and Leeds will be hoping to move him this summer to reduce the burden on their wage bill.

Junior Firpo

Firpo forced his way back into the Leeds team last season, but his Premier League-level wage packet, coupled with the fact that he has a year left on his current deal, means the Whites will look to cash in this summer.

The Dominican international has had tentative interest from La Liga clubs and a move back to Spain could suit all parties this summer.

Max Wober

Wober is currently part of Austria’s EURO 2024 squad and impressed during a loan spell with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach last season.

Gladbach are keen to re-sign Wober, but with three years left on his contract at Elland Road, Leeds would prefer a permanent exit to another loan departure.

Ilya Gruev

Gruev forced his way into the Leeds team towards the end of the season, but talk of a return to Germany, where he played for Werder Bremen, will not go away.

Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for the Bulgaria international and if that interest turns into a substantial offer then it could prove too good to turn down for both player and club.

Sam Greenwood

Greenwood joined Middlesbrough on loan last season, but Boro opted not to turn that temporary stay into a permanent one.

The 22-year-old has not done enough to warrant a consistent run in Leeds’ midfield and, with two years remaining on his contract, it could suit all parties if the former Sunderland and Arsenal youngster is moved this summer.

Marc Roca

Roca is expected to turn his loan spell at Real Betis into a permanent one, although talk of an imminent end to that deal has been downplayed.

However, it would be a big surprise if the Spain international remains a Leeds United player at the end of the summer.

Crysencio Summerville

Summerville was Leeds’ best player last season, but given the interest now surrounding the Netherlands youth international, as well as the Whites’ need to sell players to fit PSR regulations, a summer exit looks very much like probable.

Brighton, Liverpool, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are among the clubs linked with the 22-year-old, who scored 21 goals and registered 10 assists last season. Reports suggest Leeds could demand a fee of £35-40m to sell him this summer.

Wilfried Gnonto

Gnonto was the subject of interest from several clubs last summer, but a move never materialized for the Italian international forward.

He stayed at Leeds and scored nine goals in all competitions in a campaign where he perhaps failed to reach the heights expected of him in the second leg.

However, at 20, there is still a huge upside for any club signing Gnonto in terms of the potential he has to offer and he remains one of Leeds’ most sold assets this summer.

Jack Harrison

Harrison impressed during a loan spell at Everton last season and is now expected to join the Toffees on another loan this summer. The 27-year-old has a clause in his contract that allows him to join Premier League clubs on loan, meaning Leeds will miss out on a transfer fee for him again this summer.

Georginio Rutter

Rutter has had tentative interest from clubs in Germany and France after rediscovering his best form for the Whites last season. Leeds’ record signing is a player they won’t want to lose, but should this interest lead to auctions, they will have a decision to make.

Joe Gelhardt

For one reason or another, Gelhardt has failed to consistently hit the mark to secure a consistent place in Leeds’ starting XI.

The 22-year-old has three years left on his contract and following the emergence of Mateo Joseph alongside established strikers Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Rutter, his chances of first-team football at Elland Road look limited.
