Sheffield Wednesday fans had plenty to say after the latest season ticket announcement

Sheffield Wednesday fans are in agreement over the latest season ticket update from the club.

Sheffield Wednesday fans can look forward to Championship football next season after Danny Rohl and his players pulled off a great escape.

The Owls beat Sunderland 2-0 on the final day of the season to complete their turnaround under Rohl, but many fans might not be returning to Hillsborough next season.

Despite the current feel good factor at the club, owner Dejphon Chansiri is facing backlash over season ticket prices for the 2024/25 season.

The cheapest non-concession adult season ticket for next season, earlier in the year, it was £460, although that same ticket now costs £535.

And after May 20th, the price will go up again, to £560, leaving may fans furious over the sky rocketing price of a season ticket at the club, with Sheffield Wednesday now announcing that season ticket holders from 2023/24 have just 10 more days to reserve their seat for next season.

@tommyuto said, “Does the season start in 11 days or something? Leave ’em be”, whilst @owlstillidie said, “After 30 years a season ticket holder you have finally priced me out of watching the football team that runs in my veins!”

And some fans seem keen to renew, but only if there’s efforts made to keep Rohl, with @keiron1972 saying, “Announce DR is staying & DC (Dejphon Chansiri) is going to back him, then that will encourage many to renew.”

@adammac0905 agreed, saying: “Announce he (Rohl) is staying then? And he has been backed! Sell it out every week and be over 20k season ticket holders.”

@rkhargreaves added: “Too many phases, too expensive.”

The dilemma for Dejphon Chansiri at Sheffield Wednesday

Despite his antics and the still, for now, poor outlook at the club, Chansiri still has a very loyal Sheffield Wednesday fanbase.

And fans appear ready to pay higher prices for a season ticket, but in return they want to see the club move forward.

There are suggestions that this is happening with improvements to Middlewood and a new contract for Rohl in the making.

But many fans may wait to see how this summer transfer window pans out before renewing; that, however, would mean higher prices and losing their reserved seat.

It’s certainly a tricky one for fans to weigh up and for Chansiri too; he needs capital at the club and revenue for next season, but right now, fans are on the fence and that will surely give Chansiri a fresh concern going into the summer.
