Breaking: Everton complete Aston Villa’s £9m move

Everton have completed the signing of Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa for a fee in the region of £9m.

The 20-year-old was free to leave Villa Park this summer as the club look to generate funds due to their position on the Profit and Sustainability Regulations (PSR). Iroegbunam made a total of 12 Premier League appearances for Villa during his three-year stay at the club.

Villa signed the midfielder from West Brom in July 2021, but he struggled for minutes under Unai Emery last season. He spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, where he played 32 matches and scored two goals.

Last season, Iroegbunam made a total of nine Premier League appearances appearance and started just once, in the 4-1 defeat to Man City at the Etihad Stadium. Its sale would be reflected as “pure profit” in Villa’s books.

Meanwhile, Villa are set to complete the signing of Lewis Dobbin from Everton. The 21-year-old winger made just 15 Premier League appearances for the Toffees, the majority of which came last season.

Dobbin scored his first senior goal in Everton’s 2-0 win over Chelsea at Goodison Park in December. His contract was set to expire next summer.
